Holly Hunter is an American producer and actress who has been recognized for her incredibly praised performance in films such as Broadcast News The Firm The Piano and The Incredibles. The movie Piano was a huge success and won her many awards including an Oscar. The well-known actress began her career as an actor on the stage, performing in a variety of Broadway as well as Off-Broadway productions. Acting has always been her passion. When she was in fifth grade, she was Helen Keller. She was born deaf in the one ear after suffering from mellitus, but didn't have this limitation deter her desire to be an actor. She was a drama major at the college before moving from Pittsburgh to New York City to follow her goals. Hunter had her Broadway debut after a chance meeting with Beth Henley, a playwright. Both of them collaborated on Broadway Crimes of the Heart. When she moved from New York to Los Angeles, Hunter tried to land movie roles. The role of a supporting actress was added to her resume in Swing Shift. Holly Hunter has been in numerous movies, television shows and movies over the course of her career. Holly Hunter was awarded a Hollywood Walk of Fame Star and also the Women in Film Lucy Award.
